The Cleveland Museum of Art is pleased to present Provenance, Provenance Café, and Catering by Provenance, a three-pronged dining concept created through an ongoing partnership between the museum, Bon Appétit Management Company, and celebrated chef Douglas Katz. The name Provenance is derived from the French provenir, meaning “to come from.” The word refers to the chronology of ownership pertaining to a historical object or work of art. but can also be used when describing the origin of food—particularly food from local sources. Provenance, Provenance Café, and Catering by Provenance marry the concept of locally sourced foods with the lineages of nearly 45,000 objects in the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection.


RESTAURANT

Provenance is a 50-seat contemporary restaurant and lounge that features locally sourced and globally inspired cuisine and a prix-fixe menu that complements current museum exhibitions.

Douglas Katz is the innovative chef partner of Provenance, Provenance Café, and Catering by Provenance at the Cleveland Museum of Art. For the past 25 years, Chef Douglas Katz has focused on creating fulfilling, transportive experiences for Clevelanders to enjoy. As chef/owner of Zhug, Chimi and Amba in Ohio City, his driving purpose is to spread joy through meaningful experiences and shared passion. Chef Katz is the former chef/owner of fire food and drink—which operated in Shaker Square for more than 20 years.

CAFÉ

Provenance Café features lunch, dinner, and snack options made in an open kitchen. The café offers an incredible variety of seasonal soups and salads, hot and cold sandwiches, beverages, desserts, and more. The café’s Tandoor Oven features a selection of locally sourced, globally inspired dishes.  Provenance Café is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 am - 4 pm (Sushi and hot food are available until 3:00 pm). Fridays & Wednesdays from 10 am until 8 pm. (Sushi and hot food are available until 7:00 pm).
